- 20th century modern architecture as heritage -
Is modern 20th century architecture asking for any specific approach as to heritagization, conservation and restoration, or can simply the standard general concepts as used for pre-modern architecture be applied? #DOCOMOMO – the International Committee for the DOcumentation and COnservation of buidings, sites and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement – has been dealing with this issues since its foundation in 1988.
In the first part of the lecture (Luc Verpoest) the issue of Modern Movement preservation is introduced through a series of examples concerning avant-garde modernism projects of the 1920′s and 1930′s.
The second part of the lecture (Barbara Van der Wee) is focusing on the redevelopment of late-modern social or collective housing projects in Belgium after the Second World War.’
